Two
OLBH Volunteers Receive DAR Community
Service Awards

Two Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital (OLBH) volunteers were among those honored
with community service awards by the Poage Chapter of the Daughters of the American
Revolution (DAR). Naomi Runyon and Verona Petre, both of Catlettsburg, received
awards at the Poage Chapter of the DAR's fifth annual Community Awards presentation,
Sunday, May 4.
The
purpose of the Community Service Award is to recognize worthy local
people from a variety of walks of life for outstanding achievements
in educational, humanitarian, patriotic, historical or citizenship
endeavors. Runyon and Petre, who are sisters, were honored for their
volunteer contributions to OLBH and the community. Runyon and Petre
had the highest total number of volunteer hours last year at OLBH,
with the sisters logging more than 6,300 hours each.
"Naomi
and Verona are shinning examples of volunteerism," Luann Serey,
OLBH Community Services director, said. "I can't imagine two
individuals more deserving of this honor and I'm pleased the
Daughters of the Revolution are recognizing the work these wonderful
ladies have not only given to OLBH but to other community
organizations."

OLBH
Earns Record Number of Five Star Awards for Patient
Satisfaction
Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital (OLBH) has been recognized for services ranked
among the top 10 percent in the nation according to OLBH patients and the research
firm Professional Research Consultants, Inc. (PRC). OLBH received four five-star
distinctions from PRC and a four-star distinction. The number of five-star honors
is an OLBH
record.
OLBH
received its five-star patient satisfaction honors, indicating
ranking in the top 10 percent in the US, for its Bellefonte
Pediatrics practice, Bellefonte Women's Care, the hospital's 4-Center
and its outpatient gastrointestinal/endoscopy services. The four-star
honor went to the overall quality of care expressed by the hospital's
inpatients. The four-star designation indicates OLBH's patient
satisfaction scores in the award area was amongst the top 25 percent
in the nation.
PRC
is the nation's premier marketing research organization providing
services exclusively for the healthcare industry. PRC surveys OLBH
patients concerning their satisfaction with the services they
received.
"To
receive a single five-star recognition would be a great
accomplishment worth celebrating," Mark Gordon, OLBH CEO, said.
"To receive four such recognitions in addition to a four-star
recognition is an extraordinary milestone. Our staff and the services
they provide are amongst the best in the country. Ultimately, we
exist to serve our community and the people who enter our doors for
care. That these patients rank us as excellent when they are surveyed
by PRC is an honor greater than any other award or achievement for
which we could strive."
"We
are thrilled to present OLBH with these National Excellence in
Healthcare Award(s)," Joe M. Inguanzo, Ph.D., PRC president and
CEO, said. "It was through their hard work, dedication and
determination that they have made their facility a better place for
the entire community. In the past 30 years we've never seen hospitals
more determined to exceed customers' expectations than the hospitals
we recognized this year. It speaks to their passion that OLBH is
among the best of the best."
In
addition to the patient satisfaction awards, OLBH received two
four-star awards from PRC based on physician satisfaction scores.
OLBH's laboratory services and its anesthesia services were honored
with awards based on the satisfaction of the OLBH medical staff with
those services.
The
PRC awards are based on the percentage of patients who rate a service
as "excellent" for the overall quality of care question.
OLBH participates with PRC for patient satisfaction information as
part of its focus on excellence in making the hospital a better place
to work and practice medicine while ensuring the best environment for
patients to receive care.

among the Best Companies, features the highest job growth rate (13
percent) among 10 hospitals on the list. In addition, of the 29 Best
Companies that offer an onsite child-care center, KDMC offers the

FORTUNE, in cooperation with the
Great Place to Work Institute, determines the Best Companies winners
by conducting the most extensive employee survey in corporate
America. Of some 1,500 firms that were contacted, 406 companies
participated in this year’s competition.
In determining the Best Companies,
two-thirds of a company’s score is based on the results of a
57-question survey that determines attitudes about management’s
credibility, job satisfaction and camaraderie. More than 100,000
people participated in the survey, which is sent to a minimum of 400
randomly selected employees from each company.
The other third of the scoring is
based on companies’ responses to the Great Place to Work
Institute’s Culture Audit, which includes detailed questions about
pay and benefit programs and a series of open-ended questions about
hiring practices, methods of internal communications, training,
recognition programs and diversity efforts.
King’s
Daughters president/CEO Fred
Jackson says the
road to providing the very best healthcare begins with a world-class
team.
“While technology, skill and
training are important to achieving our vision of providing world
class care, it is our 3,656 team members who truly make it happen.
Jackson says. “Every day, they create a caring compassionate
environment for our patients and their families.”
According to FORTUNE, the “100
Best Companies” excel in creating jobs. The winners added
67,000 workers to their payrolls in the past year and employ a total
